Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the love your calm podcast mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast paced world.
Hello and welcome. My name is Hannah and I'm so happy you're here today. Thank you for joining me for a few minutes of meditation.
This week's practice will explore the theme of embracing change. Change can be hard, but sometimes it helps to remember that change is also a natural part of life and that through mindfulness we can learn to accept and flow with it rather than resist. So let's take a few minutes today to settle in and connect with ourselves. Let's get started.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down. Once you're settled, you can gently close your eyes if that feels good for you today, or soften your gaze.
When you are ready, begin to shift your focus to your breath. Let's take an intentional breath here. Take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. Let's do that again. Inhale deeply, feeling your abdomen rise, and exhale, releasing any tension you may be feeling today. Allow your breath to settle into its natural rhythm as you feel it continue to flow in and out effortlessly.
I invite you to begin to shift your awareness to your body. Notice any sensations present in this moment. Feel the weight of your body against the surface beneath you. Notice any areas of tension or discomfort. Acknowledge them without judgment, simply observing them in this moment.
I invite you to give yourself permission to reflect on a change you are currently experiencing, or maybe one you anticipate in the future. It can be a small shift or a significant life event. As you hold this change in your mind, notice the feelings that arise. Maybe you feel anxious, excited, or maybe uncertain. Whatever feelings come up, allow yourself to sit with them. To simply acknowledge the presence of these feelings as they come up. It is okay to feel this way. Whatever feelings you have are valid. Change often brings a mix of emotions. Acknowledge each feeling and remind yourself that they are valid. It's okay to feel this way.
As you breathe in, invite acceptance into your heart and with each exhale, release any expectations or fears surrounding change.
Embrace the idea that change is an opportunity for growth, learning and new experiences. Imagine inviting in a sense of openness. Give yourself permission to let go of any resistance you may feel towards change. Allowing your breath to be a gentle reminder that change is a natural process.
Take a couple of rounds of breath here on your own, inhaling acceptance and exhaling resistance.
And when you are ready, gently begin to bring your awareness back to the space around you. Take any movements you may need as your focus begins to shift back to this space when it is comfortable for you, slowly open your eyes. Carry this sense of acceptance with you as you return to your day prepared to navigate any changes in your life.
