Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
This week's mini meditation is focused on self-compassion. It's no secret that the most important voice in your life is your own, so how you talk to yourself matters.
Let's spend a few minutes practicing talking to ourselves with kindness.
So let's get started.
Begin by taking a few moments to find a comfortable position. You can remain seated if that feels good for you, or you can choose to be lying down. Whatever feels best for you today. If it is comfortable for you. you can close your eyes softly or maybe just lower your gaze.
Take a deep breath in through your nose. Hold it for a moment and then exhale slowly through your mouth, beginning to release any tension.
Allow your breath to begin to just settle into its natural rhythm. With each inhale, invite in a sense of calm. On each exhale let go of any self judgment or criticism.
Now turn your awareness inward. Begin to acknowledge any feelings of self-doubt or unkindness that might arise. It's okay to feel this way. Everyone experiences moments of vulnerability. As you breathe, remind yourself that you deserve kindness and understanding just like anyone else.
I invite you to bring to mind a moment when you've been hard on yourself. Acknowledge this feeling without judgment. As you breathe in, imagine wrapping yourself in a warm embrace of kindness and with the exhale release any negative thoughts, allowing self compassion to fill the space instead.
As you continue to breathe, remind yourself that self-compassion is a practice and that you are worthy of love and acceptance regardless of any imperfections or setbacks. Begin to embrace the idea that it's okay to be human and to experience struggles.
Maybe consider repeating this powerful affirmation to yourself.
I am worthy of kindness.
Let this affirmation settle in, fostering a sense of acceptance within you.
I am worthy of kindness.
Take one final round of breath here, filling your lungs with warmth and compassion and exhale slowly, grounding yourself in the awareness that you deserve to treat yourself with love and understanding.
When you are ready, gently bring your awareness back to the present moment. Take any movements you may need and when it feels good for you, slowly open your eyes. Carry this sense of self compassion with you throughout your day. Maybe taking the opportunity to repeat this affirmation one final time.
I am worthy of kindness.
