Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
If you are listening to this episode, you've probably caught yourself spiraling at some point. It can be exhausting both mentally and physically. This week's meditation is focused on slowing down and getting some space from those thoughts.
Let's get started. Take a couple of moments here to find a position that feels good for you. You can be seated, feet flat on the floor, sitting cross legged if that feels better for you, or even lying down.
Take any movements you might need to help you settle into a place that really feels good for you today.
As you settle into your breath, let it flow naturally. There's no need to change anything. Just allow your breath to find its own steady rhythm. With each inhale, invite in a sense of calm, opening to the peace you are creating in this practice. And with each exhale begin to settle into this moment, releasing any clutter or noise that may be occupying your mind.
I invite you to begin to shift your awareness to your thoughts. Give yourself permission to acknowledge that thoughts are like clouds passing through the sky. Sometimes they're light and fluffy, easy to see through or see past. Other times they can be dark and heavy with no breaks in sight. But all clouds pass in time. I invite you to observe your thoughts through this lens without judgment or attachment, simply taking note of them as they come and go, as they pass through like clouds in the sky.
As you continue to breathe, imagine each inhale bringing in fresh air, filling your mind with light peace. Visualize each exhale releasing any thoughts that feel overwhelming or distracting. Picture them drifting away, carried away from you by the exhale, giving yourself permission to acknowledge that not every thought needs to be held.
Remind yourself that it's okay to take a break from your thoughts right now to clear the clutter so that you can have the space to choose your next step.
Take one final round of breath here on your own, embracing the peace that you have created in this practice.
And when you are ready, gently bring your awareness back to the present moment. Take any movements you may need and when it feels comfortable for you, slowly open your eyes. Carry the sense of peace with you throughout your day, knowing that you can return to this practice whenever you need it.
