Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
This week's meditation is focused on gratitude. Practicing gratitude won't make the challenges you are facing go away, but it can help the load feel a little lighter.
Let's get started.
Begin by finding a comfortable position. Take any movements you may need and settle into a position that feels good for you today. Let's take one round of breath here together. Inhale fully through your nose, feeling your lungs fill with air, and exhale completely through your mouth, beginning to release any tension. If it feels comfortable for you, consider closing your eyes or just soften your gaze as you prepare for this practice.
As you settle into your breath here, let it flow naturally, finding its own rhythm with each inhale. Invite in a sense of calm and with the exhale begin to release any feelings of stress or worries you may be holding, Noticing your body begin to soften just a little.
I invite you to bring your awareness to a challenge you may be facing. Acknowledge this difficulty without any judgment, recognizing that challenges are a part of life and it's okay to feel the weight of them. In this moment, consider the aspects of your life that you can still appreciate even when things are tough. Maybe consider reflecting on the support you have, the lessons you've learned, or the strength you may have developed through past experiences. As these thoughts gently settle in your mind, choose one specific thing to express gratitude for and hold this. It could be a person in your life, one specific meaningful moment, or even a simple pleasure.
Remember that gratitude can exist even in times of hardship, and that taking time to acknowledge what you are grateful for can help shift your focus from what is lacking to what is present in your life.
As you continue to breathe here, remind yourself that returning to gratitude can be a source of strength during challenging times. Taking time to include gratitude can help to lighten the load.
Take one final round of breath here on your own
feeling grateful,
And when you are ready, begin to shift your awareness back to the present moment. Take any movements you may need and when it feels comfortable for you in your own time, slowly open your eyes. Carry the sense of gratitude you have created during this practice as you return to your day feeling lighter and more prepared for the day ahead.
