Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
This week's meditation is a short grounding practice. It encourages you to take a few minutes to reconnect with the earth and to find stability in this present moment.
Let's get started.
Begin by finding a comfortable position. You can be seated in a way that feels good for you today, or even standing. Whatever works for you. If it is comfortable for you, consider closing your eyes or maybe just soften your gaze. When you are ready, take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely, feeling your stomach softly rise. Hold for a moment and then exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing any tension you may be holding, letting any lingering thoughts simply pass through.
As you settle into your breath, begin to bring your awareness to your body. Take note of the weight of your body pressing down into the ground or maybe the surface below you. Feel this connection anchoring you. With each inhale, imagine drawing strength and stability from the earth, and with each exhale, release any stress or distractions as your mind begins to quiet.
As you continue to breathe, give yourself permission to begin to feel your connection to the earth. Imagine yourself rooted firmly to the ground, much like a tree standing tall and strong.
With each inhale, invite in the healing energy from the earth. And with each exhale, imagine roots extending from you into the earth below, using these roots to increase your feeling of connection. Continue with this breathing, using the inhale to invite in the Earth's energy and nourishment and the exhale to anchor yourself in this connection to the earth.
Feel the power of your roots, the support and stability they provide, reinforcing your connection to the earth and your sense of presence in this moment. Any tension or worry you have been carrying continues to soften and flow freely from you, replaced with this grounding energy.
Take a couple of rounds of breath here on your own, feeling the stability of the earth beneath you, the strength of this connection.
And when you are ready, begin to bring yourself back to the space around you. Take any movements you may need and slowly. When it feels comfortable for you, open your eyes. Carry this sense of grounding with you as you move through your day, knowing that you can return to this stable place and this practice whenever you may need it.
