Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
This week's meditation is a heart opening practice. It encourages you to look within and spend a few minutes cultivating love, compassion and acceptance.
Let's get started.
Take a moment to find a position that feels good for you today. You can take any movements you may need, maybe roll your shoulders back, shift from side to side, whatever movements feel good for you today. Once you're settled, you can close your eyes if that's comfortable for you, or maybe just soften your gaze.
As your breath begins to find its natural rhythm, bring your awareness to the area around your heart. You might even choose to place one hand over your heart here. As your breath flows, gently use the inhale to begin to create space in the area around your heart, making room for warmth and connection. And with your exhale, imagine releasing any barriers or fears that may keep your heart closed. Picture these barriers dissolving, making room for your heart to open more fully. Feel the warmth within you growing brighter and more expansive with each breath.
I invite you to begin to shift your focus to the sensations in your heart. Give yourself permission to feel whatever emotions arise, joy, sadness or maybe even tenderness. Embrace whatever feelings come up for you without judgment, knowing that they all contribute to your experience of love and understanding.
With your breath, invite in the warmth of acceptance and self-love. Let's take a round of breath here to help. Continue this. Inhale, inviting in love and light, feeling the area around your heart, continue to open. And exhale, letting go of anything that feels heavy or constricting.
With each cycle of breath, feel your heart opening wider, creating a space for love both for yourself and for others. Take a couple of rounds of breath here on your own, taking note of the openness you have created.
And when you are ready, begin to shift your awareness back to the space around you. Take any movements you may need and when it feels comfortable for you in your own time, slowly open your eyes, feeling relaxed and ready to return to your day, remembering that your capacity for love is limitless and is always available to you.
